Mae Cheri Whiteside

Mae Cheri Whiteside, P.E. has over a decade of proven professional experience in transportation design and construction management. A tested and proven engineer, she has wide ranging experience on preliminary, design and construction engineering projects from federal, state and local funded sources. She developed her career as a roadway design project manager on roadway projects with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), after working her way up as a field inspector on a variety of roadway and bridge rehabilitation and roadway reconstruction projects.

Envisioned in 1991, she founded Cheri K. Lewis Engineers in 2009 with the belief in making a difference in the needs of regions abroad where complex mobility issues are caused by impassable roads and bridges. Developing sustainable transportation projects will spark social and economic development for the people in regions of blight.

She is a native of Chicago’s South Side and a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology. She has co-authored a written publication that provided data for making decisions regarding allocation of highway improvement funds.

“I’m so proud of what Cheri K. Lewis Engineers has become.  It took some years of hard work, personal sacrifice and faith to pull it off.  I work on each and every project and I make sure it is done correctly.  I am happy I chose civil engineering as a major in college.  It’s both rewarding yet challenging.  And I am having fun doing it.”
